Upon recruitment, a Memorandum of Agreement is entered into between the South African Police Service and the police recruit for a contract period of 24 months. During this period, the recruit will be a police trainee and will undergo the Basic Police Development Learning Programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"707\" height=\"434\" src=\"https:\/\/www.test.gideongeneration.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/C994AB24-293C-49FB-936A-4604CAE302FA.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4108\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.test.gideongeneration.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/C994AB24-293C-49FB-936A-4604CAE302FA.jpeg 707w, https:\/\/www.test.gideongeneration.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/C994AB24-293C-49FB-936A-4604CAE302FA-300x184.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 707px) 100vw, 707px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The purpose of the Basic Police Development Learning Programme is to enable newly-appointed police officials to :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use a series of legal and policing skills to protect and serve members of communities in accordance with the Constitution of South Africa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a more effective service that will improve community satisfaction and position them to fulfil their mission of creating a safe and secure environment for all who live in South Africa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SAPS Learnerships Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Grade 12 \/ Matric Certificate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candidates must be mentally &amp; physically fit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>English, read, write and speak<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candidates must hold NO criminal record<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Computer literate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candidates must hold a valid Code B Driver Licence&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be self-motivated and a team player<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candidates must have great liaison skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The SAPS have the following academies:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>SAPS Academy All saints: Eastern Cape<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SAPS Academy Bishop: Eastern Cape<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SAPS Academy Graaff \u2013 Reinet: Eastern Cape<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SAPS Academy Mthatha: Eastern Cape<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SAPS Academy Chatsworth: Kwazulu \u2013 Natal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SAPS Academy Ulundi: Kwazulu \u2013 Natal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SAPS Academy Tshwane: Gauteng<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SAPS Academy Bishop Lavis: Western Cape<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SAPS Academy Oudtshoorn: Western Cape<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SAPS Academy Philippi: Western Cape<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The duration of the Learning Programme will be 24 months, of which 12 months will be at the Academy and 12 months in the workplace.&nbsp; It will consist of two phases at the academy and one phase in the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Phase One:&nbsp; Academy (10 months)<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Foundational phase \u2013 will mainly focus on acquiring necessary knowledge and skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practical application of knowledge and skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Phase Two:&nbsp; Workplace experience (12 months)<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Workplace exposure at a station<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Phase Three:&nbsp; Academy (2 months)<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Integrated assessments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When police trainees complete the training and are found competent, they are permanently enlisted in the South African Police Service as constables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How do you apply<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saps.gov.za\/careers\/careers.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.saps.gov.za\/careers\/careers.php<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Basic Police Development Learning Programme Police recruits undergo a Basic Police Development Learning Programme (BPDLP) when they enlist in the South African Police Service.
