King V is the anticipated next chapter in the King Report series, building upon the foundation laid by King IV. It deepens South Africa’s commitment to ethical, responsible, and inclusive governance, while aligning with global standards such as the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards (S1/S2), the EU CSRD, ISSB, and the UN SDGs.

Rooted in the African philosophy of Ubuntu “I am because we are” King V champions a governance model that is not only effective and ethical, but also context-aware, proportional, and stakeholder-centric. It emphasizes outcomes over box-ticking, calls for strong board leadership, and integrates sustainability, ESG, and technology oversight into core governance structures.

Whether you’re leading a board, managing ESG disclosures, or shaping policy within your organization, understanding and applying the 12 King V principles is essential for staying relevant, resilient, and responsible in today’s business environment.

This program equips leaders and governance professionals with the skills to apply the King V principles in practice. Participants will master ethical leadership, ESG integration, tech and AI governance, stakeholder inclusivity, and scalable implementation aligned with both South African and global standards (e.g., Companies Act, JSE Listings, IFRS S1/S2, TCFD, ISSB, EU CSRD, CRISA 2).

By the end of this program, participants will:

  • Master all 12 King V principles and apply them effectively

  • Embed ethical leadership and a culture of Ubuntu in their organizations

  • Govern emerging risks such as climate and cyber threats

  • Integrate ESG metrics into strategy and executive remuneration

  • Draft investor-ready, JSE-compliant governance disclosures

  • Implement scalable governance for SMEs, SOCs, and large enterprises

  • Align governance with UN SDGs, double materiality, and global sustainability expectations
